Max Gallimore

Max Gallimore, Atlanta Charter Chair, Sweeny Medal Recipient, Carrier of 5 Flags, and all around gentleman!

Meet the explorer that brought the club to Atlanta, Toronto, Fairbanks, and Warsaw!

Max Gallimore became a Member in the Explorers Club in 1982. He sponsored by a gentleman that he met in Nepal. Max enjoyed a career with Delta which allowed hime to use his pass privileges to become active in the Explorers Club on a national level.

Max served as Chairman of the Chapter Relations committee. He visited a large number of Chapters, encouraging the New York, home base that there was great interest in the Explorers Club across the US and in other countries. This lead to the successful founding of four Club Chapters located in Atlanta, Toronto, Fairbanks, and Warsaw.

Additionally, Max served as Chairman of Flag & Honours and Membership and was able to get those elevated to Vice President status as well as VP Chapters.

Max severed on the Board of Directors for thirteen years and this deep services saw him awarded the Sweeney Medal in 2005.

Along with his deep service to the Explorers Club, Max is an explorer and has carried five Explorer Club flags, dealing mainly in wildlife conservation and coral reef studies.
